The recycling message is being delivered loud and clear in West Oxfordshire thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team.

In the last four weeks, the five-strong crew of advisors have knocked on the doors of more than 2,000 homes in the District reminding people they can recycle their food waste weekly and offer advice on how to recycle more.

In the process they have issued hundreds of food waste caddies as more residents look to ensure all their waste is processed efficiently and in the most environmentally friendly way possible.

Cllr Steve Good, Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: “We are being given an excellent response on the doorstep. Not only are residents keen to recycle more, they are offering us feedback about our recycling service which will lead to further improvements.

“West Oxfordshire already has one of the best recycling rates in the country and with initiatives like this we are aiming to up our performance even more, setting our sights on becoming England’s number one recycling community.”

The team will be visiting as many households as possible over a six-week period.
