With the world famous Cheltenham Gold Cup taking place next week and warmer Spring weather just around the corner, attention is focused once again on tourism here in The Cotswolds.

English Tourism Week (ETW) –which runs from Saturday 17 March to Sunday 25 March – is a celebration highlighting the importance of local tourism. The visitor economy is worth over £1billion in The Cotswolds and supports hundreds of businesses which also impact on the performance of supplier industries including farming, transport, retailing, sport, museums and galleries, the theatre and other performing arts. Tourism is vital to the economic well-being of our many beautiful towns and villages.

Attractions reopening for the season include Cogges Manor Farm <>  at Witney and Cirencester’s new Barn Theatre <>  which opens on 16 March just in time for the start of English Tourism Week.

Cotswolds Tourism staff will be attending the British Tourism and Travel show at the NEC on 21 and 22 March to promote the area to group organisers, media and visitors to the show.

With social media and photography playing an important role in promoting our destination, Cotswolds Tourism – working with Cotswold Bloggers and Visit England – will be holding its first instagram meet on 17 March. There will be two events: the first is at the beautiful Painswick Rococo Garden at 12pm; this is followed by a walk around Cirencester starting at 3pm visiting key locations in the town and finishing at New Brewery Arts. Local bloggers and photographers are all welcome to register to attend one or both events via

Looking ahead to the 17 March ‘instameet’  local travel blogger and one of the co-founders of Cotswold Bloggers Lucy Dodsworth says:

“The event is a great chance to get local photography lovers to share some of the gorgeous scenery we have on our doorsteps and show everyone what the Cotswolds has to offer.”

National Bed and Breakfast day happens on 24 March along with Visit England announcing the National tourism superstar for 2018.

The final weekend of ETW invites everyone –businesses, visitors, locals – to join in with the #BigTweetend. Just post your ETW images on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook using the hashtags #ETW18 and #BigTweetend

So let’s shout about The Cotswolds – and if your business has a special offer then why not upload it direct to the Visit England website
